Recyclable items

Not all items should be thrown into trash cans, instead, all items which can be recycled should be done so. Government has announced it illegal to throw recyclable goods into trash bags.

Recyclable items include all dry paper items like magazines and newspapers, glass mugs, plane glass and other glass items, cardboard boxes, plastic bottles and other small items made out of plastic, tin cans storing food or liquids, junk mail, aluminum cans etc.

Note that the cans must be completely empty and dried before sending for recycling. Plastic bags can also be recycled but they should not be thrown inside the recycling container. Instead, take them to the nearby landfill or transfer stations for recycling along with other goods.

What to do with the household dangerous waste?

Household hazardous waste should be handled with great care. Firstly, do not transfer explosive or other unsafe materials to any other container and make sure to dispose of them from their original container. For example, paints and varnishes, when wet, are considered dangerous wastes. Hence, it is advised to not mix them with any other item.

To dispose of such items, contact the hazardous waste management department and ask for help, they will guide you with the right instructions and schedule a careful pickup.

Handling food waste

Nearly all kinds of food waste including dairy products, fruits and vegetables, meat products, fish residue etc. can be decomposed by easy methods. These things can also be used as fertilizers for certain plants. To handle food material, one must store them inside organic bags which themselves are decomposable and then out inside trash.

Another method of handling food waste is to put it inside a bag and then refrigerate the waste to cool temperatures and store it until the trash collection day in order to avoid a poor smell. Other food boxes must also be completely empty before you throw them inside trash cans.

How much does a dumpster cost in Las Vegas?

Garbage containers come in different sizes and hence their prices vary too. Average cost of a garbage can is $15 to $20 but it mainly depends on the area and size of the container one is requesting.
